OS BMX Reunion at Woodward West

This weekend Steve Swope and the folks at Woodward put on an old school bmx reunion. It was incredible getting to ride and chat with all of my childhood heroes. A huge thanks to Steve for organizing the event.

Interbike

It has been a while since I have posted anything, so instead of going back thru my existance the last couple of months, I will only go back a couple of weeks.

Vegas Baby!

Interbike was amazing this year, mostly because Jennifer came out and I got to see a whole lot of friends from Portland and Texas.

Jennifer, Zac and I drank our weight in Margaritas and beer.

I finally got to attend NORA Cup (BMX Award Ceremony) and Cru Jones (Bill Allen) was presenting awards. For those of you who don't know who Cru Jones is you should be ashamed and you should go rent RAD at the video store.

Jennifer, Mandy, Shad, and I made a hike for IN 'N' OUT and found a sweet "mini" ramp.

Jennifer and I also got to meet the legend Eddy Merckx.

4th of July

This may be a bit outdated, but at least it is still July. Jennifer and I went up to San Francisco for a Giants game on the 4th. If you haven't been to AT&T Park, you have to go, just the view from the stands is amazing. Unfortunately the Giants lost to the Dodgers, but we enjoyed our ten dollar beers just the same.

After the game we found out that some Rickshaw drivers shave their legs.

The Official Move Out of Portland

Well, Jennifer and I have officially moved to California. The weekend before last Jennifer graduated with her Masters. I am extremely proud of her.

We had a great last weekend in Portland. I got to cruise around one last time on my Vespa with my friend Chris who just got a sweet Lambretta. Saturday was hectic with movers and a mess to clean up, but we followed it up with drinks and tapas at Andina. Shad, Mandy, and Zac joined us and we had a great time. Sunday was all fun with Jennifer putting in a good road ride and I got to hang out and ride at the Battleground skatepark jam. It was fitting that my last ride at the skatepark happened where I broke my leg. Rob, a friend from Arcata happened to be passing thru town, so I got to ride with him, it had been almost four years. Here are some pics, enjoy!

Trip to Asia

I just got back from my first trip to Asia with Specialized and am still trying to catch up on sleep. Although most of the trip was alot of work, I got to eat some amazing food, and drink lots of píjiǔ (Mandarin Chinese for Beer).

Unfortunately I also managed to eat some noodles with shellfish in them which meant spending alot of time here.

There was a bmx shop 2 blocks from my hotel in Taichung that was pretty sweet, they even had Lotek on their sign out front. Next time I go I am definately going to take my bike.

My last night in Taiwan everyone took us go-carting. The cars were very fast and it made for quite a race.

All of the scooters have funny catch phrases, which may be a result of bad English translations, but I have a whole collection of photos.

It is very good to be home and in 2 weeks I get to see Jennifer for her graduation, and shortly after we will move everything down to California.

Good Times in Cali

I know it has been a while since I have posted anything, but since it is sunny all the time here, I am busy doing fun stuff. If it rained here like it does in Portland I would probably have a few posts a day. Everything is going well, the job is good and a massive new skatepark opened in San Jose. It has limited bike sessions, but is sooo gooood! Check out my Picasa album . I also found some cool street spine style dirt jumps in west San Jose.

New Job!

I haven't had a post in a while, mostly because of how busy I have been starting my new job at Specialized. I am really enjoying work, everyone is very nice and entertaining. I have also been going on the lunch ride, or at least trailing behind the lunch ride. The weather has been wonderful - mid 60s and sunny. I will try and post some pictures when I have a chance.

Off to California

I am heading out tomorrow morning for California. I will really miss everyone in Portland, except for some of the drivers. The last three years have been a blast, even including my broken leg. I wish everyone the best and hope to stay in touch. Adios!

Time Off

I think I have been busier since I have been off work than when I was working. Days are filled with skateparks and errands and nights are filled with last drinks with my Portland friends. Having such crappy weather lately definately makes it a little easier to leave for sunnier places. Well back to checking things off my to do list.

DREAM JOB

I have accepted an engineering position at Specialized Bicycles and will be designing components. This also means I will be leaving Portland towards the end of the month. I will definately miss everyone, but am excited about the move. Hit me up before I leave, or yell at me when you get tired of the rain and want to ride.

Cherry Pie

Jennifer and I made the trek down to Albany today so that she could race Cherry Pie. We had a great time hanging out with the Ironclad Crew. Kevin, Drew, Tyler, Brandon, Josh, Brian, Quenton, and I think I saw Eva, although I did not get to talk to her. Everyone did great! You can check out the photos here.

Handemade Bicycle Show

Today Jennifer, Zac and I attended the North American Handmade Bicycle Show and it was spectacular. In addition to seeing hundreds of beautiful bikes we also got to chat with Lainie and Sean from Soulcraft. Also to commemorate such a great day, I have officially started a web album of my photos.

Perfect Saturday

The weather yesterday was amazing and I took full advantage. I spent the entire day riding Beaverton skatepark with a bunch of cool friends who all killed it. Well off to the Handmade Bicycle Show.

Superbowl

Jennifer and I went to a Superbowl party at our friends house tonight, and I called that the Giants would win! Pretty amazing especially since I didn't even know they were playing until I showed up. Still, it was not as exciting as the chili that Greg made (Awesome).

Vanport Kermesse

Today I got bundled up and rode out to watch the Men's A race at PIR. Realizing that over the winter the most exercise I get is walking to the bar and the fact that it appears from my viewpoint that my feet are getting smaller... or at least hiding from my site, riding out to the race would probably be good for me. It felt great getting outside and sweating a little bit, but on the way home I couldn't feel much. Everyone should really check out the last race next Sunday, the fields are small, and the environment is pretty chill.

Good Sunday

Turned out to be a great Sunday, despite being butt cold. Jennifer and I went on a quick shopping trip to Bridgeport Village. That place is a mess, some yatz parked so close, I could barely even squeeze my way into the car, probably because it was compact parking and he had a Suburban the size of a school bus. Luckily I got some sweet shirts so it didn't bother me that much. After that we had lunch at Fudruckers. Then I headed out to Vancouver to ride the skatepark. It was so cold my eyes kept watering, next time I will bring my ski goggles. Still a good time!

Back in Portland

Well, I am back from a 2 1/2 week trip that took me to Florida and then Texas. For the first time ever I had exit row seats the whole trip (killer).

New Years was a blast and I got to play guitar hero with my friend Robert, it was way harder than it looked like. The whole trip was a blast, but the smoky bars in Texas were hard to take, I think it would have been easier if they had PBR on tap, but I had to survive on Shiner and Bud Light.

Florida was amazing, although it didn't feel much like Christmas until I ran across this snowman.

Florida

Sorry no posts, but I have been getting drunk in Florida for the last week with my brother. I suppose if the weather was like Portland, I would be on the internet, but it has been sunny and 70°. I have been riding the skatepark of Tampa and it is hittin! Other than that I have just been putting the liver thru the ringer, don't worry Jimmy, I will gladly absorb a few PBRs with you when I get back. Well it is about 2:30 and I should probably pass out. Hope everyone has an excellent Christmas.

Good Weekend

My first weekend as a bachelor was pretty good, but now I am over it and I won't see Jennifer for 3 weeks. I actually got out on my roadbike today for an easy ride with my friend Chris. It was pretty nice out, just a little cold. This was the first ride on my new wheelset which I got about a month and a half ago. Yesterday I hit up a couple of skateparks.

Sweet Air Guitar on Ebay

I have my eye on this guitar on ebay, I have played this model before and I definately rocked.

First Post

This is my first blog ever and you should be very excited because of all the mundane things that you can read about me.
